Gingerbread Cookies

Ingredients:

• 1/3 cup dark molasses
• 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
• 2 Tbs. shortening
• 3 Tbs. cold water
• 1 3/4 cup all purpose flour
• 1/2 tsp. baking soda
• 1/2 tsp. ground ginger
• 1/4 tsp. each of salt, ground allspice, cloves and cinnamon
• 1-2 tubes decorating icing and gels
• 1/2 lb. Jelly Belly jelly beans, Kiwi, Red Apple flavors
• Reindeer Corn, Christmas Pectin Sanded Mix for decorating.

Instructions:

1. Heat oven to 375 degrees F.
2. Stir together molasses, brown sugar and shortening.
3. Stir in cold water.
4. Stir in flour, baking soda, salt and spices.
5. Line cookie sheet with foil and generously grease foil.
6. Roll dough 1/8-inch thick on floured surface and cut into desired shapes. Place 2 inches apart on foil.
7. Bake 7 to 9 minutes.
8. Cool 5 minutes; carefully remove from foil. Cool completely.
9. Decorate as desired.

Tip: To make candy stick, use a dab of frosting.
